sitting in lotus position
knees hurt ~
sartori will have to wait
 
 
 
 

 

old men rake leaves
when leaves have gone ~
there's pleasure in it

 
 
cloth dolly gripped in tiny hand
broken eyes ~
still loved

 


   
   
  worn leather boots
in the wood shed
mouse whiskers barely visible
the seashells are gone
old men search for wedding rings ~
Santa Monica Beach


   
  beneath a persimmon tree
drowsy silence
bee drowns in my beer bottle
   
the Oak bleeds
frozen tears ~
Maine in winter

 
bees having great sex in the hollyhocks
laughing mice mill beneath the ground ~
spring in Cornish
 
   
  house full of boys
crashing doors ~ "I'm home, Ma!"
summer

 

excellent earth winds
ten-thousand flutes ~
and they cost nothing
 

 
   

 

little mirthful child
doesn't know the seasons
a spider swings safely from his ear
